RTP - the theoretical return to player

RTP (Return to Player) shows what share of bets a slot pays back to players over millions of spins. For example, an RTP of 96% means that on average 96 out of every 100 units bet are returned as winnings. In a short session the result can differ a lot - RTP describes statistics, not a guarantee.

Benchmark: an RTP of 96% or higher is considered good. Some providers release the same game in several RTP versions, so check the value in the rules of the specific slot.

Volatility

Volatility (variance) describes how wins are distributed:

  • Low - frequent small wins, the balance changes smoothly. Good for long sessions and bonus wagering.
  • Medium - a balance between frequency and size of wins.
  • High - rare but big wins; long losing streaks are possible. Examples: D-Day and Mental by Nolimit City.

Bonus features

  • Free spins - free rounds, often with multipliers.
  • Cascades - winning symbols disappear and new ones fall in their place.
  • Hold and Win - collect cash symbols that lock on the reels.
  • Bonus buy - instant entry into the bonus round for a fixed price. A selection of such games is in the slots section.

Paytable and demo mode

Before playing, open the paytable: it lists symbol values, bonus rules and the maximum win. Demo mode lets you try the mechanics and bonus frequency for free.

Slots for bonus wagering

For wagering, players usually choose slots with a high RTP and low or medium volatility: this gives a better chance of keeping your balance until the requirement is met. Make sure the game is not on the excluded list - more in the article how to wager a bonus.

The main rule
